Abbiamo il piacere di presentare a Gli Eroici Furori a Milano, dal 5 al 15 ottobre 2022, la prima edizione del festival internazionale Progressive – Street and Art – PhotoFestival.

Il tema è SOLITUDES.

Organizzato dal gruppo Progressive Street, attivo da anni nel mondo della fotografia con iniziative artistiche e editoriali, è una rassegna indipendente – no profit. Nel sito www.progresfestival.com sono visibili tutte le fotografie e il programma completo degli eventi.

Nell’opening, mercoledì 5 ottobre, alle ore 16,30, alla Galleria Gli Eroici Furori in via Melzo 30, alle migliori foto selezionate da tutto il mondo, andrà il riconoscimento della giuria internazionale (Michael Dressel, Richard Bram, John Gill, Julia Coddington, Kevin Lim, Batsceba Hardy, Michael Kennedy, Keef Charles e Xinema Echague).
Saranno Richard Bram, americano che vive a Londra e Michael Dressel, berlinese naturalizzato americano, che vive a Los Angeles, insieme a Batsceba Hardy fondatrice di Progressive Street e Keef Charles, inglese, rappresentante dello staff di Progressive, a proclamare i vincitori nelle varie categorie. Saranno presenti Niklas Lindskog, Britta Kohl-Boas, Martin Agius, e Pia Parolin.

Successivamente i due fotografi di fama già noti al pubblico milanese – Richard Bram e Michael Dressel – parleranno del loro lavoro.

Nato a Filadelfia, negli Stati Uniti, nel 1952, Richard Bram è un fotografo professionista dal 1984. È stato membro fondatore di in-public, ora UP Photographers, il primo collettivo internazionale di street photography. Oltre ad essere pubblicato regolarmente su riviste tradizionali e digitali, scrive e tiene conferenze. Sono stati pubblicati tre libri del suo lavoro, ‘Richard Bram: Street Photography’ (2006), ‘Richard Bram: NEW YORK’ (2016) e ‘Short Stories’ (2020). Nel 2020 Bram ha ricevuto l’onore di una grande mostra retrospettiva al Mannheimer Kunstverein di Mannheim, in Germania. Il suo lavoro è stato visto in oltre quaranta mostre personali e collettive in tutto il mondo e fa parte delle principali collezioni museali in America e in Europa. Ora vive sulle rive del Tamigi, East London, dove osserva l’acqua, la luce e l’aria del grande fiume.

Nato a Berlino Est nel 1958, Michael Dressel ha studiato scenografia all’accademia d’arte Weissensee. A seguito del fallito tentativo di fuga è stato rinchiuso per due anni nelle carceri della DDR, da cui infine è stato espulso. Negli anni Ottanta ha vissuto a Berlino Ovest prima di trasferirsi a Los Angeles, dove tuttora vive e lavora come Sound Director, membro dell’Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Mentre ascoltare è la sua professione, guardare con attenzione è la sua vera passione. Per molti anni ha percorso le strade di Los Angeles con le sue macchine fotografiche, alla ricerca di ‘momenti significativi’. Il suo libro fotografico Los(t) Angeles racchiude una selezione delle fotografie scattate dal 2014 al 2020. E con esse ha partecipato a tre grandi mostre:

Nelle due settimane del Festival, dal 5 al 15 ottobre, il calendario prevede numerose esposizioni, speciali incontri col pubblico e lezioni, in una cornice di intrattenimenti musicali.

At Gli Eroici Furori, contemporary art gallery in Milan, the first edition of the international festival Progressive – Street and Art – PhotoFestival is held in Milan, from 5 to 15 October 2022. The theme is SOLITUDES.
Organized by the Progressive Street group, active for years in the world of photography with artistic and editorial initiatives, it is an independent – non-profit exhibition. On the site www.progresfestival.com you can see all the photos and the complete program of the events.

In the opening, Wednesday 5 October, at 4.30 pm, at the Galleria Eroici Furori in via Melzo 30, the best photos selected from all over the world, will receive the recognition of the international jury (Michael Dressel, Richard Bram, John Gill, Julia Coddington, Kevin Lim, Batsceba Hardy, Michael Kennedy, Keef Charles and Xinema Echague).  It will be Richard Bram, an American who lives in London and Michael Dressel, a Berliner naturalized American, who lives in Los Angeles, together with Batsceba Hardy founder of Progressive Street and Keef Charles, English, representative of the progressive staff, to announce the winners in the various categories. Niklas Lindskog, Britta Kohl-Boas, Martin Agius, and Pia Parolin will be present.

Subsequently, the two renowned photographers already known to the Milanese public – Richard Bram and Michael Dressel – will talk about their work.

Born in Philadelphia, USA, in 1952, Richard Bram has been a professional photographer since 1984. He was a founding member of in-public, now UP Photographers, the first international street photography collective. In addition to being published regularly in traditional and digital journals, he writes and lectures. Three books of his work have been published, ‘Richard Bram: Street Photography’ (2006), ‘Richard Bram: NEW YORK’ (2016) and ‘Short Stories’ (2020). In 2020 Bram received the honor of a major retrospective exhibition at the Mannheimer Kunstverein in Mannheim, Germany. His work has been seen in over forty solo and group exhibitions around the world and is part of the leading museum collections in America and Europe. He now lives on the banks of the Thames, East London, where he observes the water, light and air of the great river.

Born in East Berlin in 1958, Michael Dressel studied set design at the Weissensee Art Academy. Following the failed escape attempt, he was imprisoned for two years in GDR prisons, from which he was eventually expelled. In the eighties he lived in West Berlin before moving to Los Angeles, where he still lives and works as a Sound Director, a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. While listening is his profession, watching carefully is his true passion. For many years he walked the streets of Los Angeles with his cameras, looking for ‘significant moments’. His photo book Los(t) Angeles contains a selection of photographs taken from 2014 to 2020. During the two weeks of the festival, from 5 to 15 October, the calendar includes numerous exhibitions, special meetings with the public and lessons, in a setting of musical entertainment.
